The Start of The End - Day Twenty Four
My last, probably most active, day to spend in Romania. So much travelling, a lot of thinking, a number of goodbyes, a meeting of someone relatively new and several photographic moments.
The morning was met with a small grudge as I knew what was to come. I knew it would average out as an okay day with a good start and an upsetting end.
We got ourselves ready for a 9am pick up as Razvan brought Clanci to the apartment to move in and then for Estelle, Clanci, Birgitta and myself to head off with Marian to Sighisoara. Just before leaving to Sighisoara, I said my goodbyes to Razvan, thanking him for all the help he has given to all of us. We got in the car and then drove for about an hour and half.
Our trip to Sighisoara was a nice walk around the village, seeing the place from above, walking through the streets, in between the buildings, and meeting the local anachronism (a few people dressed up in historical clothing greeting everyone around the streets).
After Sighisoara, we headed back to Brasov for a final drink at Gotts Bar with Clanci and Estelle for about an hour before Marian picked me up again. We departed at around 5:30pm after some more goodbyes.
We arrived in Bucharest before 8pm as the traffic was fairly light as it was Easter Sunday for most Romanians. Said more goodbyes and headed into the airport. Getting through security was a speedy process, well, definitely when compared to my experience at Luton airport. I still had to remove my boots though. I then proceeded to wait in the airport for about 3 hours before they decided to board the plane.
With a good strong level of boredom on the plane, and discomfort, we landed safely to only a few claps this time around. I've now learnt that this is a normal thing to occur, but probably a more eastern European thing, I can't be sure right now. Jumping into a taxi and getting a nice calm drive home, I was relieved to see my day had ended, but was and still am missing the animals and the people.
Photos to follow at a later date.
